Blue River Wastewater Treatment Facility Improvements

Blue River Wastewater Treatment Facility

Project

The Blue River Wastewater Treatment Facility (WWTF) located near 151st Street and Kenneth Road (State Line) treats the sanitary sewer flow generated by communities in the Blue River basin in Johnson County. JCW is increasing wet weather pumping and disinfection capacity at the facility to accommodate greater flows as these communities continue to grow. Improvements include pumping, solids, piping, odor control, and other facility improvements.

Project Drivers and Benefits

JCW is increasing wet weather treatment capacity at the Blue River WWTF to provide capacity for continued growth in Southern Johnson County. The project will also replace aging equipment to extend the life of the facility, increase reliability, and improve facility operations. JCW is focused on being a good neighbor, further mitigating the facility’s odor potential through the addition of new odor control facilities as part of the project.

Project Schedule

The project is in design in 2024. Construction is scheduled to begin in mid-2025 and be completed by early 2027.  This page will be updated with more details as the project progresses.
